New York New York

Las Vegas is one of the most photographed cities in the world. Thousands of photographers have shot thousands of pictures of the unique designs, themed hotels and glittering signage of Sin City.

Hooper is one of them, although making Las Vegas his home for 50 years has given him a somewhat different perspective. Known for photographing the city’s beautiful women, he still shot his share strip hotels and glitter gulch from the 1960’s through the 80’s. In the 90’s he even took to recording it’s building boom with time-lapse films of hotels like the Luxor & Venetian being built. The changes in the city over those years were astronomical. The quaint neon and bulb signs gave way to hi resolution digital marquis and the small desert town got taller, faster and louder.

In this series of photographs, Hooper interprets the “new” Las Vegas. So much to see, and moving so fast it’s tough to keep up. You think you may be missing something and you probably are. No matter. Get breakfast, a drink and a nap and you can start all over again going the other way down the strip.

These bright lights lend themselves to printing on metal. Aluminum prints give depth to the vivid colors and they are ready to hang right out of the box.
