'Route 25' simply maps the north/south route along Brick Lane. The intersecting lines are exaggerated as if to denote the start and end of a day's journey along the famous East London street. The dominant ground is a warm buttery colour with more pink peering through on the left half and orange to the right. The line work is, appropriately, a dark 'brick' red from which extends a few gravity defying drips.
About the series: I live in a vast city and rely on public transit and foot. The effort and time to move from point a to b is an ever present part of my life perspective, therefore some Linescapes are now defining physical boundaries and morphing into cartographic themes in the 'borderlines' series.
Note: this painting, left unframed, intentionally reveals my artistic process. The random paint build-up and serendipitous drips that coat the sides of the deep edge canvas are meant to be seen.
