Warm wings from realms above entwine; to take a breath away!
As the last breath is taken; lungs drip the remnants of life back to the ground it came from, giving back nutrients for new growth, new life and sustainability. This is the natural order of things; of times gone by and times to come unless human intervention alters this.
Continuing my love affair with old trees and their gnarled branches, interesting texture and variety of colour, I have depicted the death of a tree in a spiritual and natural sense, as a concept which represents the cycle of life. The juxtaposition of a natural landscape and a palette of un-traditional or unnatural colour highlight’s the topic of climate change and its detrimental effect. The use of a variety of washes in acrylic and ink creates a layering effect that when over painted in oil gives a strong impression of depth, richness and hidden meaning to what is basically a traditional landscape.
