Artist's description:

Title: Breaking Barriers
Size: 30 x 24 x 3/4 inches

This artwork is a part the "Purple Woodnymph" series.
This series was inspired by the beautiful bird, purple-crowned woodnymph also called as the violet-crowned woodnymph. This medium-sized hummingbird is found from Guatemala and Belize to northern Colombia and western Venezuela. While looking up some information about birds, I came across this beautiful vibrant male hummingbird and was instantly inspired by the colours. And the series was born.

Colour Psychology: The colour purple/violet is associated with royalty, wealth, pride, luxury, independence, peace and magic. Purple is a mix of red and blue, it contains the energy and strength of red with the spirituality and integrity of blue. This is the union of body and soul creating a balance between our physical and our spiritual energies. In Hinduism and Buddhism violet is associated with the Crown Chakra. In Chinese paintings, violet represents the harmony of the universe, as it is a combination of red and blue - Yin and Yang respectively.
