During the novel coronavirus pandemic of 2020, we went into self-isolation and social distancing to help prevent the spread of insidious CoVID-19. Our government was slow to act on this and created a nationwide panic after those who cast it off as something that would "just go away, disappear" realized it would not. Ill prepared for this level of pandemic, people started going into self-protection mode. Hoarding toilet paper, disinfectants, hand sanitizer (reselling on Amazon at 500% markup too), and stealing valuable supplies from our healthcare professionals on the front line of this virus.
This painting is a symbol of the dehumanization of our society...the part that is willing to forego humanity and helping others, but rather serving themselves. This is not about the petty people stealing masks and hoarding, but the wealthy and powerful of our nation, including many many politicians, that have used this dark time to reap a huge financial and power grab.
