Artist's description:

I stayed at my parents' house this weekend. We have a beautiful garden as my dad is a landscaper and has spent 25 years working on it. We have a lot of these daisies around the garden, despite the fact they are usually considered a weed (invasive). I took lots of photos and used images from old botanical books as inspiration for this piece. I then remembered, no one reads books anymore and decided to age it. I used black ink, sepia ink and coffee. I also sanded parts down with sandpaper. To add to the sense of history I added various scribbles containing useful information, including a recipe to make them edible. As if it were some intrepid botanists field notes.

Painted on a box canvas.

Materials used:

acrylics, black & sepia ink, coffee, sandpaper, pencil, biro
