As a muse, the female figure looks down and stretches her leg to try and touch the mere mortals with her feet. She sits on a purple plane, and her leg crosses different colour planes, the one she is sitting on, and the darker one on front, giving the painting a strange sense o volume and flatness at the same time. The red/violet hues of the planes in addition to the warm white of the figure gives sense of sensuality and comfort at the same time. A common characteristic of the muses in the history of art.
