The painting was inspired by the view of boats at sunset in the small coastal town of Cascais near Lisbon.
I liked how the last flashes of the red sunset sun flashed on the surfaces of the shore and boats. With soft transparent fills of watercolor paint, I wanted to convey the peace and tranquility of a beautiful evening in a Portuguese city.
