For all my Still lifes there is always a particular object that grabs my attention and then I find other items to complement it. For 'Blue Vase And Nectarines' I was drawn to the deep Azure blue of the vase and it also has an amazing shape and shine that makes it a pleasure to paint. As with all my paintings I love bold colours and I often look for contrasting colours to emphasise the the colours further, so the orange and reds of the nectarines were a perfect combination for this composition. Another common feature of my work is the aerial perspective I use and in this painting it really highlights the circular shapes of the objects.

Materials used:

Stretched Canvas, primed with gesso, oil paints used and canvas varnished and framed.
