The 'Blue spot' series of images was initiated by the photographs I took around Stamford in south Lincolnshire. From the winter of 2014 through to January 2016, I would photograph and then draw specific visual elements that captured my attention - very similar in approach to the 'Red Berries' series of images. The dark blue-ish/black spots on the leaves changed over time, weathering and shiny in the rain. They have feel of decay yet with a sense of freedom when the wind whisks them up, a gentle movement until they find their new resting place. I wanted the movement to be an important element in this series of images in both the composition and in the colours.
In Blue spot series no 2, the digital layering of my photographs of pink and purple flowers together with changing the scale of some of the embedded images helped to create the illusion of a the mapping of an area.
