The 'Blue spot' series of images was initiated by the photographs I took around Stamford in south Lincolnshire. Throughout two winters, I took photographs and made drawings of visual elements that particularly captured my attention - a very similar in approach to the 'Red Berries' series of images.
The dark blue-ish/black spots on the leaves in the forests visually changed over time, weathering and shiny in the rain. They have feel of decay yet with a sense of freedom when the wind whisks them up, a gentle movement until they find their new resting place. I wanted the movement to be an important element in this series of images in both the composition and in the colours.
In Blue spot series no 2, the addition of pink and purple flowers together with changing the scale of some of the embedded images helped to create the illusion of a the mapping of an area.
