Inspired by many long walks over Dartmoor and the Welsh mountains I was interested in getting a good deal of vibrant colour and txture into one small painting. As a result this is probably one of my favourite painting; I think its the blue of the sky! The combination of yellow and purple tones in the landscape is really lovely. The sky was created with brushes though it still affords a little texture. The foreground is heavily textured, having been applied with my ever favourite palette knives. This creates something of a 3D/more realistic effect as the background is genuinely more distant than the foreground. I have set the painting (on box edge canvas) within an open box frame so that the texture of the painting can be fully enoyed.
