Artist's description:

Usually, butterflies live just 2-4 weeks. Once it emerges from its chrysalis as an adult, a butterfly has just a few short weeks to live. Some of the smallest butterflies, the blues, may only survive a few days. Butterflies that overwinter as adults, like monarchs and mourning cloaks, can live as long as 9 months. But still, their life is so short and yet, the beauty they live behind will live in our heart forever. The first work of my butterfly series is blue.

“I almost wish we were butterflies and liv'd but three summer days - three such days with you I could fill with more delight than fifty common years could ever contain.” John Keats, "Bright Star: Love Letters and Poems of John Keats to Fanny Brawne"
