Painting glass is a very enriching an challenging experience for me as a representational artist. It reinforces the idea of painting what you see and not what you think you see. I picked up this set of three turquoise vases a while ago, and wanted something yellow to go with them. These chrysanthemums were just perfect and I had my set up pretty soon. This has been painted from life in my studio. The flowers have been accentuated a little bit with the palette knife, so that the petals read better.
As is my usual practice, I have a set of three paintings in this theme, with the same vase and flowers. Try combining them for a great display of art, to brighten up your study or drawing room!
