Blown Away By Red is one of a pair of similar paintings created in 2013.
Painted using acrylic paints on soft raw canvas, and leaving some areas as raw canvas, the painting is surrounded by a light oiled wood surround and ready to be displayed.
As with a number of my square paintings it is inspired by Modernist Painters and a visit to Sandra Blow's studio in St. Ives.
I have used a combination of stencil and over painting to achieve depth in the reds.
The inspiration comes from Sandra's vibrant limited palette and square format works, and also the sense of joy and exuberance that I felt when I visited that wonderful studio.
This painting would ideally go somewhere fairly neutral to brighten and enliven a space.
It is celebratory and perhaps most suitable as a gift between loved ones.
If you love red, this painting is for you!
