Artist's description:

I made it for myself in 2004, for my own home collection. I think it is time for this piece to find another home.
I like to make artworks which are close by themes and style to Russian Orthodox icon painting which is in its turn a continuation of Byzantine tradition. This is where my creative energy dips out fascination and passion. How to make an ancient tradition alive? Could icon attract my peers or young people? How to deal with canon and artistic freedom to interpret evangelic stories? A lot of questions arise... In terms of artistic influence I admire icons of Andrei Rublev, graphic and films of Rustam Khamdamov, art and films of Sergei Paradjanov and films of Andrei Tarkovsky. I wish my paintings would always convey peaceful, calm and meditative mood.
