Artist's description:

This series of paint studies led to my final painting head study 29. Resigning from his post in 2013 was certainly a moment in history which I felt I had to capture. I`m not sure as to why as I wouldn`t consider my self to be a deeply religious person, but merely an observer, people watcher. Its unusual for me to name the subject, as this often taints views as to how I`ve painted them.
After Initially drawing a number of charcoal, and pencil drawings (often ending up in the bin.) I begin the wash stage, working out light and dark, and the strongest points to keep, meld change etc. This seems to be the point when marks flow freer, colours and blobs run, and new shape form, staring to feel closer to an end study.
Oil wash on Victorian story book paper, evident page seam, and thread holes. Floating mount in white box frame.
