Artist's description:

When I moved to London in the Summer of 98, I lived in Belsize Park for a few months. On my window ledge there was an amber 1970's square glass table lighter and a 1950's chrome soap tin. The early morning sun shone on the table lighter, reflecting colours on the chrome tin and made a pattern rather like a windmill on the high gloss paint of the window ledge. I made some very quick oil pastel sketches to capture this trick of the light. At the time I was producing a lot of Abstract Expressionism. I didn't get round to painting a finished version for almost 16 years.
