This is a representation of Wheal Coates Tin Mine at St Agnes, Cornwall depicting a play on angles reflecting the rocks and lodes below. The quote “before, behind, at every angle..” is taken from the poem “The Mine” published circa 1863 and written by John Harris, a miner at Dolcoath Mine, Camborne, Cornwall. I am fascinated by mining and love the sight of all the (sadly) disused mines around Cornwall. Wheal Coates is situated in a particularly beautiful spot. My representation of it is influenced by cubism. This painting doesn't require framing as it continues around the canvas wrap.
