This is a very personal painting on the difficulty of fighting depression. The difficulty of escaping from the prison built by your own mind and the negative thoughts dragging you and chaining you down.
However the real protagonist of this painting is the person trying to free its loved one from the walls he has created. Trying to bring back hope, represented by the green background into the persons life.
