It's night time and a handsome barn owl watches an unsuspecting wood mouse very closely. A garden tiger moths is attracted by the delicious scent of the honeysuckle.
This painting is part of my British wildlife series, in which all the living things featured I have seen within three miles of my home.
This painting is made using the drypoint method, an intaglio printmaking technique a bit like etching. I incise an image by hand into a polypropylene sheet. Only a small number of images can be printed by hand from this, in this case there were seven, each everso slightly different. Each one is then tinted by hand with watercolour, again creating more slight variations.
