This is one of a series of two pastels. It is in the style of Elizabeth Twistington Higgins, I have a great deal of admiration for this lady. She wanted desperately to be a dancer, but she had completely the wrong build, but she persevered and cajoled and eventually was allowed by her parents to apply to, and eventually got accepted by, a ballet school. But then tragedy struck; in her early 20's she had a car accident that left her paralized from the neck down, only able to breath with the aid of an iron lung. She then took up art and her work is an inspiration to me. A ballerina is a thing of beauty and grace, I hope I have done justice to both dame Elizabeth and ballerinas.
I think that together, they will look stunning in any setting.
