Artist's description:

This painting stars two badgers among bluebells, wood anemones and a pearl bordered fritillary butterfly. Our nearby woodland at Pinsley is stuffed full of nature's wonders - particularly in springtime when the woodland floor is carpeted with blue.

It's part of my British wildlife series, in which all the living things featured I have seen within three miles of my home in west Oxfordshire.

This painting is made using the drypoint method, an intaglio printmaking technique a bit like etching. I incise an image by hand into a polypropylene sheet and from this I make prints. Each one is then tinted by hand with watercolour, again creating more slight variations.

The edition is strictly limited to 11 numbered versions – all all everso slightly different.

Materials used:

Drypoint and watercolour on 300 gsm heavy duty fine art paper
