Title: Back Yard Vacation
Medium: Hand pulled 4 x 6 inch Dark Field Monotype with Watercolor & Colored Pencil
Support: Rived BFK Printmaking paper (unframed)
Process: Monotypes are made by painting on a smooth (not etched) plate, and pressing the still-wet pigments against paper. For this piece, I used Black oil based etching ink on a zinc plate. The ink was rolled onto the plate with a brayer, and the pool and umbrellas were lifted out of the wet ink in a subtractive process with my finger tips, points and rags, etc. After the plate and ink were pressed to paper, I waited for the ink to dry, and added colored pencil.
Edition: This is an edition of 1 (one).
Story: The image was based on a photo taken with cell phone while visiting a friend with a dreamy back yard, drenched in pretty constant, poolside, palm tree-lined California sunshine. :)
Frame: The art is offered here unframed, but feel free to contact me for an estimate to have it professionally matted and framed, so it's ready for your wall.
