Artist's description:
‘Baby’s eye’ - Abstract Surrealistic Etching Mezzotint Limited Edition of 5.
‘Baby’s eye’ is a mezzotint printmaking.
Paper size 19x27 cm, image size 10x13 cm.
Artists Proof - Mezzotint Signedq Numbered and Dated 2010.
This mezzotint is a limited edition of 5. It is 2/5. They are dated, numbered and signed in pencil by the artist.
They were handmade by me and pulled through an Etching press.
Mezzotint is a printmaking process of the intaglio family, technically a drypoint method. It was the first tonal method to be used, enabling half-tones to be produced without using line- or dot-based techniques like hatching, cross-hatching or stipple. Mezzotint achieves tonality by roughening the plate with thousands of little dots made by a metal tool with small teeth, called a ‘rocker’. In printing, the tiny pits in the plate hold the ink when the face of the plate is wiped clean. A high level of quality and richness in the print can be achieved.
‘Baby’s eye’ is a mezzotint print based on etching inks onto 260 gm textured Hahnemuhle paper (white off). This paper is one of the finest papers for printing ever and it's my favorite as well. The image is drawn by memory and with imagination. It expresses one of the seven deadly sins which every person on this planet has. The items are original prints with no other variations in color and paper.
Please note I have tried to scan the image as accurately as possible. I do the best I can to represent the image in it's truest form.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
