Artist's description:

An original, one-off artwork made using the mono print technique.

This is a multi-layered abstract print, where texture and depth is built up using layers of paints, to create a subtle but powerful piece, which is bound to become a conversation piece. Like an intricate, beautiful woven tapestry, it represents the rich tapestry of life. It celebrates the diversity and uniqueness of each individual.

The myth of the tower of Babel is employed here symbolically to denote the linguistic and cultural differences and variations, and the scattered nature of human civilisation, despite their underlying similarities and connections. This print in striking yellow and black shows the conflict between connectedness and dispersion, and the constant attempt to reconcile the differences. There is a certain rootedness that comes from the places and groups that we belong to and identify with, but which at the same time serves to isolate us from neighbouring communities. Sometimes these connections form by finding common ground, and sparks of familiarity and unity are created.

This is a unique, non-repeatable print. It will be sent loose/unframed so that you can choose a frame of your own choice, and to suit your decor.

MATERIALS: This handmade one-off print in complementary subtle colours is on cold-pressed acid-free archival Fabriano paper, using high quality Winsor and Newton paints.

SHIPPING: The print is sent loose and unframed in a reinforced envelope with an attractive acid-free tissue wrapping and mount board backing from my studio 'Hedge and Hog' in the north-west of England. The artwork is itself secured in a cello sleeve, and the whole package is sent in a bubble wrap thick envelope. I take great pride and enjoyment in wrapping my prints and drawings for the customers and I wish it to be a luxurious and joyful experience to open one of my artworks.
