An original oil painting on canvas panel.
A rapid plein air painting executed using Winsor and Newton pigments and Artist grade turpentine.
This piece along with another were produced at the end of a long painting session, a way to unwind and create something without thinking too much. I find that after working on larger sustained paintings, at the end of the session I feel even more creative. With this in mind I always push myself to create at least one more smaller study before leaving for home.
This piece was especially enjoyable to paint, I was really drawn to the icy green/blue and pink reflections of the sky in the water.
I’m currently working on approaching painting with a new simplicity and this piece is really the start of a new series of paintings trying to sum up a place with seemingly very little information, brush strokes and detail.
