This painting was inspired by the warm colours of autumn. I was particularly interested in capturing the incredible colours, textures and patterns that result from the decay of leaves. I collected a variety of leaves to study and used various techniques to get the essence of beautiful decay into my painting. I built up the painting over hours from thin washes to thick pallet knife work. I then used thin washes to create the special effect of leafy veins. The many layers gives this piece depth. I really enjoyed using a limited colour pallet of yellows, sienna, umber and a hint of magenta to contrast.
The edges are painted black and the artwork is ready to hang.
I use only the highest artist quality oil paint and stretched canvas.
This artwork should last for hundreds of years as do the old masters.
The images of interiors may not be 100% to scale.
