Artist's description:

This piece is inspired by the hush and roar of the stones being dragging and pulled by waves on a beach near to me. Auchmithie is a cove beach on the East Coast of Scotland, where swallows dive and puffins roost on the cliff edges. The beach is entirely covered in polished stones of many colours and shapes, and when these stones are wet it intensifies the colour making the stones look like sparkiling gems in the sunlight.

This piece is a calm after a storm, the clouds are clearing to reveal a loveheart of blue sky, whilst rain can still be seen passing over the sea i the distance. The stones are represented by collaged gems and trinkets, old necklaces and bits of shimmery things, all clustered together with glitter. An decadent celebration of a beautiful place close to my heart. when the sun shines on the piece it can be very beautiful.

fact: the beach used in the film 'Under the Skin' was actually Auchmithie.

Materials used:
