Oil Painting on canvas, of a single sunflower in a church garden of a rummage sale I was attending. Since the beginning of my beginning to paint with oils, one of the first paintings done during a still-life painting class was of sunflowers, and I had promised myself that I would redo what was for me an unhappy result. I have always loved the bright-yellow petals surrounding the dark center, or as it is known in the botany world, the 'pistil'...which to my eye, is made up of shades of brown, magenta, and vibrant blue highlights.
