Artist's description:

I was always fascinated by Henry Moore's reclining figures. At that moment I had a reclining couch in my studio at Stephen Pierce. The coach was not really usable but a master crafted old one which badly needed restoration. This inspired me to create an abstraction of a reclining human figure, resting. As I was surrounded by limestone I picked one with natural surfaces. During this time at Stephen Pierce, I was more into incorporating roughness and smooth textures into my sculpture. The contrast worked well as it shows the difference between natural and worked surface. A little bit of a hint, of how a stone sculpture evolves.
