I love all things Italy, especially the ruins, the buildings and the magnificent architecture. The Colosseum, the most famous landmark in the city is obviously an artist's delight and one that I spent hours sketching in. This painting is an aerial view from the top floor of the Colosseum. It features the iconic Arch of Constantine as seen from the Colosseum on a hot afternoon. Thronged by tourists in all directions, of course!
This landscape is painted in a very loose impressionistic style with bold and vibrant brushwork. The painting is energetic and will draw the viewer in.
I have captured the colours in the painting as accurate as I could, but I always say they are way better in person.
