Artist's description:

I love to paint the light you get at either extreme of the day. This landscape features a view of a tree-lined ridge near the village of Uppertown in Derbyshire. Sunsets for landscape artists are a must at some point I guess, but in this case there was something so dramatic in the sky that heralded the coming darkness, set as it was against the skeletal trees up on the ridge.
One of my favourite things to paint is the chiaroscuro or contre-jour at either end of the day.
Delicious, something I come back to again and again.

Materials used:

oil on primed, deep canvas
