Artist's description:

Original monoprint which was created using oil paint on rice paper. The technique involves rolling out a smooth layer of oil paint on a sheet of glass, then pressing a sheet of rice paper onto it The image is built up by using successive different coloured layers of paint, lightest colour first then darker colours, masking out areas to retain the first colour and adding definition by drawing on the back of the paper. I am constantly amazed by the beauty and complexity of colour, shape and design in a simple still life and I was inspired to try and capture the luscious quality and natural composition of this group of apples where they lay in the bowl.
