Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

A long-term theme I've been exploring on and off for over ten years is that of apertures, openings, windows, doors, gateways, paths between tall buildings, alleyways, trails in the forest. Ways between and within worlds.

Very much connected to my passion with the landscape and boundaries, borders and horizons. These places all have their own identity, transient populations from a multitude of origins. Somehow nowhere and everywhere all at once. Not exactly beginnings or ends of journeys, but transition points, in transit, moving, shifting, dynamic, always in motion.

Starting with drawings of roof lines from the streets around my home, this little abstract canvas was very much an experiment at the time. I was looking for another direction to head with the work. The city somehow just doesn't cut it for me. I find it too restricting, confined and oppressive. I just want to push back against it. Perhaps this was more of an expression of what I was going through in my life at the time. Either way, one of a kind - so far...
