Artist's description:

This bold, colourful abstraction is taken from a series of sketches done whilst driving through the English landscape on holiday. I wanted to re-imagine the English landscape in the way the eyes capture land in a moving car. It is also an attempt to create the feeling, sensation and memory of seeing the fields and sky from a car window.

This painting is part the 'Aperture series' and is a subject about myself 'looking' at the landscape without using my camera. My eyes and memories become the aperture and the window into the visual world. These expressive abstracts are a attempt to interpret my feelings and memories towards a particular place.

The oil paints are a high quality pigment and Premium Wide depth 10oz Stretched Cotton Canvas. I use a greener alternative to traditional turpentine and white spirit.

Materials used:

Oil on canvas

Aperture - field, stone, sky (2016)
