I love painting landscapes and seascapes, they offer the opportunity to play with colour and texture and let my imagination run free. A fellow artist, Jill Griffin, has set us a painting challenge. She has provided a source photograph that we are to interpret in our own way. I thought before I tackled the project I should reconnect with landscapes and seascapes and try out techniques and colour schemes. "Anywhere" ( it's full title is "Anywhere you want to be....") is the second painting in this series of sea, sky and landscape studies. I collaged a base of maps, music and old letters written on tissue paper in the 1800s and worked into this with acrylic inks, paint, acrylic mediums and more collaged pieces. As I "painted" with this assortment of materials a landscape formed,, reminding me of our road trip around Nevada and California last year which made me smile as the base map that forms the distant mountain range is of the British coast around Minehead near Bristol! So the title "Anywhere" was given.
There is lots of texture and depth of colour from the multiple layers and glazing and glimpses of map and writing in parts. This is a fairly small painting but with lots of compexity and visual interest. I have included lots of detail pictures to give an idea of the contrasts and subtle detailing in the artwork.
I have chosen a warm creamy coloured mount and a simple black frame to enhance the painting.
The artwork will be sent fully insured and tracked, via Royal Mail.
