Original artwork description:

Angela is a popular Santa Fe model and self-described "desert gypsy." While I originally planned to do a figure painting, I ended up zeroing in on her face, drawn by the dramatic contrast between her pale skin and dark hair. The slope of her left shoulder to the pointed finger of her right hand to the brim of her hat create a frame for her expressive gaze. While I often leave my works a bit unfinished, this piece is even more loose than my usual style, more rustic and raw, with a muted palette influenced by the local landscape.

Materials used:

Oil on canvas
