'And they wondered what it meant' Rudyard Kipling.
As we see more we learn there is so much more that we don't understand on the journey through life. It is our curiosity that makes us human and gives rise to our creativity and progress. The image of these two people setting off on their journey into the wide open world reminded me of Rudyard Kipling's story 'The cat that walked by himself'. 'Out in the Wet Wild Woods all the wild animals gathered together where they could see the light of the fire a long way off, and they wondered what it meant'.
This solar plate etching was inspired by a photograph taken in the Austrian mountains. This is edition number 2 of 10.
Version II of 'And they wondered what it meant' and a smaller edition of 10 only. This print has snow flakes added. The process for creating this print is much more time consuming and its creation is more open to chance so rejects may happen. Each time a new print is created I have to clean the plate and start afresh. The additional hand made element of the snow is hand applied for each print; impossible to repeat in an identical fashion and adding to the uniqueness of each print.
You can see edition 1/10 here on Artfinder too.
This print is sold unframed.
