Artwork description:

The Herengracht, Prinsengracht, Keizersgracht and the Singel Canals are four of the most well-know canals in Amsterdam. After we left the train station the first thing I noticed was that none of the buildings have sharp right angels. They all tilt! And have done so since they were erected in the 17th century. In a city of muted colors it looks like the buildings are dancing. The painting is divided into four sections. The top three are painted head on and the layers separated by canals and bridges. The bottom row is a network of canals seen as an aerial view. Dutch 17th century maps often have different perspectives of the city of Amsterdam.

This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges and it is framed in a black wood grain floater frame. It comes ready to hang.
