Artist's description:

I was inspired to create this piece after planting and watching the Allium grow and bloom in my garden. I think they are really beautiful flowers like planets - spherical with a central core. I love the way that each tiny flower is joined by a fine stem to the core creating beautiful angles within it. I was drawn to use collage for this piece as I liked the thought of building up lots of layers of different green grasses and having the contrasting pinky purple allium dotted around over the top. I collected greens from hundreds of magazines for the piece, if you look closely you will see peas, beans, pomegranate seeds and even a little face! It is mid May as I write this and they are in full bloom again in the garden. It is like seeing an old friend!
