During the endless hours, days and weeks of lockdown in Spain the artist, the artist found it difficult not to be introspective and while too much introspection can be a dangerous thing, he enjoyed re-discovering some of the obsessions of my younger self which led to making a monotype of the legendary Marlene Dietrich. A glamorous fashion icon, known for her androgynous film roles and bisexuality, could anyone be more inspiring to a teenager coming to terms with being just a little bit different from everyone else, and who better to have as lockdown company. Now that lockdown has eased he has re-worked the image and made it into a silkscreen print as part of the series ‘All Dolled Up With Nowhere To Go’. This is number three and titled ‘Lilli Marlene’.
This 8 colour silkscreen is printed on Somerset Velvet, a heavyweight 300 gram handmade paper from St Cuthbert’s Mill in Somerset, and is in a limited edition of 50.
