Artist's description:

The truth can be scary and whimsical. He was a dominant figure in the 20th century occult movement, and his antics and persona have been the basis for numerous books, movies, television shows and cartoons. Here is the great beast with an askew red bow tie. No, his ears really looked like that and got even more elven looking as he aged. Somerset Maugham knew Crowley and wrote a novel "The Magician" with an obviously Crowley-esque man, Oliver Haddo as the villain. Haddo had blue eyes and so did Crowley, I assume.

Materials used:

Oil with walnut medium on a stretched, black primed canvas
