Artist's description:

This watercolour image is a study portrait inspired by Botticelli's work, The Birth of Venus. I have incorporated sunflowers into the image based on William Blakes poem 'Ah! Sunflowers'

Ah! Sun-flower

By William Blake
Ah Sun-flower! weary of time,
Who countest the steps of the Sun:
Seeking after that sweet golden clime
Where the travellers journey is done...

By considering this timeless response to the changing seasons .... the poem reveals a sense of the power of nature ... how intricate, dependant and entwined we are on the changing seasons particularly highlighted as summer ends and autumn begins.
I endeavour to capture this by using vibrant yet subtle colours of the sunflowers with Venus golden hair entwining the beauty of the natural world within the image.
Painted in water colour onto Saunders rough water colour paper the image is sold unframed
I endeavour to reply as soon as possible, any questions I am pleased to answer, thankyou for visiting my art space.
