Artist's description:

"Agonalia"

New work for 2018, returning to brushwork and gestural action painting creating figurative forms.

Artwork is 24"x36" on stretched canvas, titled and signed on the back and was done using a combination of acrylic and oil stick, which creates added texture to the painting.

The title comes from the fact the painting was started around January 11, which turns out to be the Festival of Janus in Ancient Greece.

Janus was known as the gatekeeper and was depicted as a two headed god with one face looking toward the past and the other to the future. This painting symbolizes for me the exploration of a new style, more organic in creation and the depiction of the subconscious developing to the forefront of the conscious.

Price listed does include packing and shipping for the painting.
