Artist's description:

This piece is recording the feelings of a difficult time when living through an emotionally challenging relationship. Only after the completion of the painting did I understand the weight of destruction that it bore. There is the bleakness of a battle scene, one that had been lost. It could represent a burnt landscape, still warm with smoke but already awakening with life, where we can nearly hear the sound of clear water.

This painting has been created by layering paint, using the marks of previous brushstrokes, now covered with a different colour. It is a method that particularly interests me, as it enables to embody a past event and represent its current impact. In this painting, there are traces of explosions, or fireworks on each side of the painting, but their presence is faint and only acknowledged by the scars they leave.
