I have a little thing for rain drops on everyday objects and how they can make the ordinary a little less so. This was inspired by a macro photo I took on our gravel driveway one day after a heavy rain shower. I loved the colours in the gravel which seemed to be enhanced by the rain and the way the little droplets sat on top of the leaf.
I entered this piece into a postcard challenge competition run by GreatArt in the summer of 2014 and was delighted to win first place. This little painting, although much more representative and realistic than my more recent paintings is nevertheless very special to me because of that.
It comes sealed in a cello bag and is not framed or mounted.
