Chaos crashing the calm. Beauty emerging from that chaos. Movement and energy and secrets and dreams. These are the abstractions I see in my work. I am more interested in the process of painting than the outcome, and for that reason I never plan my paintings, I just let them appear. The act of dragging a brush (or a towel or a screwdriver) across a canvas is a meditative experience, and I never feel quite as present in a moment as I do when I’m creating.

Abstraction is pure emotion, and abstract painting is best experienced rather than talked about. I can’t tell you why dripping, splashing and throwing paint on a canvas sometimes makes me want to cry and sometimes brings an indescribable fullness to my heart, but it does. My hope is simply that my work speaks to you in a similar way.

Each of my paintings is a unique, one of a kind original art work. I do not make prints. The sides of the work are finished in black, and the painting is finished with multiple coats of gloss varnish to protect it from dust and dirt as well as damage from UV rays which could otherwise dull the colors over time.
