Another in a new series of abstract paintings inspired by Gerhard Richter - this time using a different palette of pale pinks, petrol blues and greys. When I work on large canvas like this I set up a temporary studio in the garden so I have lots of room to work. My method involves applying paint and then dragging it over the surface of the canvas with squeegees and rollers, then working into the canvas with brushes and building up the surface with layers of paint. I have used Winsor and Newton artists' quality stretched cotton canvas and as the painting continues over onto the sides of the canvas it does not require a frame.
