This is a painting that I have wanted to do ever since I saw the Gerhard Richter exhibition at Tate Modern in 2013. It is inspired by his enormous squeegee paintings and I used a similar method to him. Applying paint and then dragging it over the surface of the canvas with a squeegees and rollers, then later working into the canvas with brushes and building up the surface with layers of paint. I really love it and will definitely do more work like this.
Painted on Winsor and Newton artists' quality stretched cotton canvas, the painting continues over onto the sides of the canvas so does not require a frame.
