The starting point for this painting was a Summer sky at dusk, but I wanted to take it into another direction, use colour more boldly and experiment with an abstract approach. I admire the work of Gerhard Richter, particularly the freedom of his enormous squeegee paintings and so this is my response to his work, albeit on a much smaller scale.
I have recently had this painting framed in a modern white frame and it looks very good, it lends the painting a slightly retro sixties feel - I will include the frame free of charge.
You will see that there is some colour variation in the photos - it has been difficult to accurately photograph the blue, the truest representation is in the unframed picture but the actual colours are 'richer' than they appear in this photo.
